Diomedes
I
always wanted a pair of night vision goggles. So I decided to create my
own model assembling parts from different real devices and added a
couple of custom parts too. Here's the mockup of the prototype, made of a
toyish plastic :)
Hard surface modeling personal project focused on realistic shapes. I studied quite closely the shapes of existing devices so I discovered how many tiny imperfections and details there are, as soon as you look at them near enough. So I tried to recreate this complexity in the CG shapes too.
Next step will be shading and rendering with realistic materials.
Modeling in Maya, additional details in ZBrush, shading and rendering in 3ds Max and V-Ray, minimal post in Photoshop. No textures at all, only procedurals inspired by Quixel Suite and Grant Warwick workflows.
