Kufstein Castle
This time my team was asked to make a real-time 3D visualization of the Kufstein Castle in Austria for the Bard Fortress Museum permanent exhibition.
Visualizing such a big and detailed fortress in a real-time software is quite a challenge due to high polygon count, texture memory, etc.
So we developed a special solution and made geometry tiles and modular textures, building up everything like a LEGO construction. We also developed special decal textures and shaders to vary patterns and add dirt all around.
At the end of the production the FPS were still high and the video memory load was under 256MB.
